God’s Plan for Us Revealed

In this episode of Making Great Saints, Dr. Michael Fonseca begins his series on the Story of Salvation within the context of God’s love and enduring mercy. He starts by explaining Genesis 1 and 2 and contrasts them with other creation myths.

Dr. Fonseca then illustrates in more detail how God created man in His image and likeness. Adam and Eve lived in “original justice.” They were incorruptible, had an infused knowledge of God, and lived in a harmonious relationship with God, themselves, each other, and all of creation.

The man and his wife were both naked, yet they felt no shame.

Genesis 2:25

God invites us into this perfect and harmonious relationship with Him as well.

God, in His goodness, also warned Adam and Eve, that while they were created in His image and likeness, they were not God. God wanted to spare them the consequences of sin and told them not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17).

Dr. Fonseca ends with a message of hope.

Even though sin entered through the fall, God shows us, through Jesus, how He intends to restore our relationship with Him to the same perfect and harmonious relationship Adam and Eve enjoyed with Him in the beginning.
